-Course Description:
In this class, we will be making a variety of different foods, including macaroni and cheese, pan-fried chicken, pancakes, salsa, tacos to name a few. We will also be going over kitchen skills, such as knife/chopping skills.
-Expectations:
Students will need to be prepared for class and work quickly so our food will be completed by the end of class. There will be no food taken home at the end of this class, as we will be eating everything we make at the end of the hour. In this class, we are focusing more on the methods of food prep, so we will not be making large quantities of food.
-Occasionally, the kitchen will not be available to our class and we will not be able to make certain food on those days. However, we will go on field trips (or have classroom time) on the days where we have no kitchen.
-Additionally, the students will be responsible for bringing 1-2 items on some week. Teacher will provide the majority of the ingredients, but the students are fully responsible to bring the assigned ingredients for each week.
-Prerequisites: No cooking experience required.
-Workload/Homework:
Shopping and gathering needed ingredients on a week-by-week basis. This will be a very minimal amount of shopping every week.
-Student Provides: Assigned ingredients for the week, apron, cutting board, etc.
