Course Description: This is a full year course.
You live in a wonderful country made up of 50 states. How much do you know about your own great states history, geography, and inhabitants? This class will guide students through an in-depth history and survey of Michigan through lecture, class discussion and activities and research. Students will, gather information, make a time line, and utilize map reading skills. They will also learn about Michigans fun facts, the Upper and Lower Peninsula, the Great Lakes, and so much more! We will use the student workbook, "My State Notebook" to record and document information throughout the year.
Expectations: Students should have a positive attitude while learning about our beautiful state! Students will need to be prepared for class by gathering information, researching, and taking pictures. We will try to get most of the work done in class with the research the students gather throughout the week.
Workload:
Gathering information, taking photos, drawing pictures of our state, etc.
Teacher Provides: The My State Notebook by ABeka Books for each student.
Student Provides: Colored pencils, Colored pens, markers, a notebook if they want to take notes, and on some days they may want to bring in pictures for their notebook.
