Grade Range: 3-5Course Description: This is an introductory level of IEW, usually suggested to be competed before the Student Writing Intensive.
From the IEW website: Humorous characters, cunning creatures, and meritorious men of history will captivate 3rd5th graders as they learn to write with structure and style.
Moving through Units 17, students will take notes, summarize narrative stories, write from pictures, put together a mini research report, and compose creative essays. With scheduling ideas, games, vocabulary, and more, the optional Teachers Manual e-book (complimentary) helps keep the lessons fun and fascinating!
Course Expectations: Students are expected to come prepared for class with their books, paper, and pens. They should be ready to get started right away, so there is enough time in each class for the students to get the entire lesson and understand the homework assignment.
***In order to save shipping, I am willing to purchase the worktext required for this class. IEW has a minimum/maximum shipping amount, and if I order at least four books, Ill meet the maximum shipping charge.
Prerequisites: It will be helpful if the student is an independent speller. The spelling does not need to be perfect.
Workload: There will be at least a one-paragraph paper that will be due on most weeks. In addition, students will be learning new vocabulary. Homework could be up to one hour per day, depending on the students individual ability.

Details:Class meets on Monday from 6:30 PM to 7:25 PM
