Cost $15
Did you know that every young persons mind is a battlefield? Based on Joyce Meyers Battlefield of the Mind series, this course will combine Christian principles with students real-life experience to provide practical tools to help young people turn everyday challenges into valuable experience and personal growth. In class, students will participate in interactive sessions designed to help them understand the various sources that impact our values, personalities and sense of identity. Additionally, they will be able to identify areas they personally struggle with -including worry, anger, confusion and fear- and learn how to handle these strong, influential emotions.
Topics will include challenges faced by teens every day, including peer pressure, the struggle for independence and expectations of themselves now and for the future. With a Bible-based approach, students will be prepared to identify their own internal struggle in these areas and more with clarity, to understand and challenge them, and enable them to make healthier decisions in critical moments-of-truth.
Course Expectations: By the end of this course, students will have a clearer understanding of their own internal thought world, as well as their ability to choose a positive, healthy thought life. Students will appreciate the connections between thoughts, feelings and behavior and, as a result, will also gain a better understanding of others.
Instructor will provide book for each student.

7 HABITS OF HIGHLY EFFECTIVE TEENS (SPRING) Cost $20
"Effective Teens" is designed to provide teens an opportunity to grow both as individuals and also in their ability to relate to others from a place of confidence, with a grounded sense of self and direction. In the supporting book, Sean Covey adapts the timeless principles of the 7 Habits to relevant tough issues and life-changing decisions teens face. In an entertaining style, Covey provides a step-by-step guide to help teens improve self-image, build friendships, resist peer pressure, achieve their goals, get along with their parents, and much more.. While the 7 Habits book text will be the foundation of the coursework, much of the emphasis in class will be on creating a safe space for students to share openly, identifying personal obstacles and strengths, and increasing their emotional maturity as a result of this shared experience.
