Grade Range: 8-12This Algebra I course covers topics typically covered in a first year Algebra course. Some of the concepts covered are: Real numbers, absolute value, equations and inequalities, scientific notation, unit conversions, solutions of equations, polynomials, word problems, graphs, factoring, Pythagorean theorem, proofs, functional notation, quadratic equations, exponential growth, computation of perimeter, area, and volume, statistics and probability.
Course Expectations: I expect students to complete their work each week to the best of their ability and to come to class with questions from the previous weekâs assignments.
Teacher Provides: None
Students Provide: Saxon Algebra 1, 3rd ed;Saxon Algebra 1 Solutions Manual; DIVE CD-ROM recommended if extra help at home is difficult for parents to provide.
Workload: Heavy. There will be homework, assignments and testing to be completed at home. Instructor offers traditional and complete/incomplete grading feedback.
