Grade Range: 7-12SO ** This is a semester-only class with open enrollment. **
Students will learn practical geometry skills in this project-based, hands-on class. They will calculate, measure, and draw out project plans. Using the "measure twice, cut once" philosophy, they will then use their patterns and prints to build their projects. This class will cover terminology, angles, ratios, the Pythagorean Theorem, coordinate planes, perimeter/area/volume calculations for 3-dimensional shapes, etc. - all things covered in a basic geometry curriculum.
Willing participation in hands-on activities, projects, hand tool usage, and power drills (with guidance) expected.
Must have a basic competency in fractions and multiplication (multi-digit and decimals). Please bring the following with you each week: pencil, ruler (with cm), white printer paper, and a protractor (6" size recommended).
Homework will be light. Students will have a few practice problems sent home each week.
