Grade Range: 1-4This year in music we will be learning basic rhythmic and treble clef notation through the use of the recorder. Recorders are great instruments to start learning musical notation. It can be helpful to inspire and serve as a starting instrument.
Students will enjoy making music through their own instrument as well as on classroom instruments. They will find the joy in playing songs on their own. They will learn songs to play at home as well as harmonization to the songs in the classroom.
They will also learn songs from other countries, dance, sing, and have fun through musical games while they are learning musical concepts throughout the class.
Student provides: crayons, pencil. NO PENS!! $5 for recorders (which teacher will purchase in a group. Students will keep these instruments.)
Expectations: I expect students to be willing and ready to try new things. They will be expected to participate in ALL activities during class. They are also expected to bring their recorder and folder to class every week.
Prerequisites: None
Workload: There will be weekly music exercises on songs on the recorder. For some this will be easier than others depending on prior musical experience.
