Grade Range: 9-12The course will be divided into 2 semesters. The Fall semester will explore today's health care system and health care economics. In addition it will cover law, ethics, and professionalism in health care. These topics will be discussed to see if the student would be interested in working in the health care environment. Next, professional skills needed to be successful in health care will be explored. The semester will wrap up with basic workplace skills needed in health care.
The Spring semester will explore all the different health care career options.
The semester will end with a review of human anatomy and physiology.
I hope this class will give the student an overview of health care and health care careers.
Course Expectations: There will be prep time every week for the students. Probably about 2 to 3 hours. Assignments/reading will come from various places, the main focus will be out of the book "Introduction to Health Care and Careers" by Roxann DeLaet. Publication date: May 16, 2011. It is expected that the students either rent or buy the book "Introduction to Health Care and Careers".
Prerequisites: A desire to learn about health care and health care careers. Students must be willing to participate in class discussions.
