Prof. Fee: $0
Homework: no
Hours/Week: 2
Max/Min Students: 12/4
Grade Range: 7-12STUDENTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE IN A SECOND CLASS DURING THE WEEK either on Tuesday or Friday. This class will be in my South Lyon home or an online format. Materials fee for this class is $7. The remaining $70 fee compensates the instructor for this additional meeting time. Two semesters of this course will equal one full HS foreign language credit.
This course is a continuation of Spanish 1A and 1B. Students will continue to develop knowledge and understanding of Spanish vocabulary and grammar in addition to the ability to communicate both written and orally/aurally in Spanish. Students will also continue to be exposed to culture, geography and history related to the Spanish language. Class time will include homework review, discussion of grammar concepts, language practice, quizzes, games, and cultural activities. Two semesters of this course will equal one HS credit in foreign language. The greatest satisfaction, however, will be the ability to converse simply in Spanish.
Course Expectations:
It is very important that all students keep up with the work at all times. Spanish is like math in that concepts build upon each other. Without a good foundation, mastering more complex language patterns will become more difficult. Students are required to participate in classroom activities, to prepare all homework oral, aural and written, and to study for quizzes and tests. Each week students will receive a list of study activities for the week which will require approximately 2 hours of time. Activities will include listening to lectures, completing written homework assignments, listening to audio materials, memorizing vocabulary, conversations, and Bible verses, studying for quizzes, and taking exams.
Prerequisites: Spanish 1A and 1B or teacher approval
Workload: Approximately 2 hours of preparation per week. Includes written homework, listening to audios, reading, studying grammar and vocabulary, memorizing Bible verses, taking exams and quizzes.
Student Provides: High speed internet access, Textbook and workbook: The textbook is TBD, but will probably be En Espanol 2, binder, 3x5 cards, possibly webcam and microphone
