Apologia Exploring Creation with Botany is an in-depth, yet age-appropriate study of botany from a Biblical perspective. This class is primarily hands-on lab and small group work to supplement the readings at home.
Get ready to explore all things green and growing! From the anatomy of a tiny seed to the tops of the giant sequoias, your students will fall in love with the world God created right outside your door. In Exploring Creation with Botany, theyll discover the fascinating inner workings of a flower by dissecting one, pollinating another, and growing their own to attract birds, butterflies, and bees. Your students will identify the plants and trees in your yard and will create their own field guides to match. From making herbal soap and tracking a leaf from its first days to its last to exploring fern spores and measuring pollution with a lichenometer, your students will find the outdoor world full of fascinating facts and finds.
Every lesson includes wonderfully engaging text, narration prompts, and notebooking assignments that bring the subject to life. Students will make comic strips of pollinating creatures, write stories, diagram and illustrate roots from their yard and, of course, grow many things as they learn.
Students Provide: Apologia Exploring Creation with Botany Textbook, pencils, paper.
Teacher provides: I will make copies of the Notebook Journal for the pages that we will use in class.
Materials Fee: Each lesson has an experiment (13 total for the FULL year). A kit is available for purchase. We need a 6 student minimum to receive the discounted co-op price of $38/kit. I will order for the group and bring the kits each week that we are to perform experiments. $5 of the $43 total FULL YEAR materials fee will be used to purchase supplemental items to be used in class.
** SIBLING DISCOUNT: If you have two siblings in the same hour, they may share a lab kit. To receive this discount, register both students for the same class, and also register one of your students for class code KIT. Your family invoice will be adjusted manually when payments are made. If you do not have the KIT code on your family schedule, it is assumed that you wish to pay for your students to have their own lab kit.**
**There are no additional fees in the SPRING as all fees are paid in the FALL.
