This is a basic class where students will be taught the fundamentals of wood-frame construction, home electrical wiring, basic plumbing, and drywall installation and finishing, and will have the opportunity to complete 2 or 3 simple woodworking projects. Previous students are welcome to attend if interested in further practice.
Planned lessons to include:
* a description and discussion of various power and hand tools, including saws, drills, chisels (sharpening and use)
* varieties of wood used in construction and woodworking,
* finishing wood (sanding, sealing, varnishing)
* understanding building blueprints,
* framing a simple 2x4" wall commonly used in home construction, including
* drywall installation and joint taping,
* priming and painting,
* ceramic tile installation and grouting
* electrical, including
* wire sizes, fuses, circuit breakers
* wiring electrical outlets and wall switches,
* re-wiring a lamp or small appliance,
* water supply and drain lines,
* faucet and toilet installation and repair,
* some automotive and small-engine related topics,
* how to interpret a property survey,
* installation and repair of basic door handles and locks

Details:Class meets on Monday from 7:30 PM to 8:25 PM
