Grade Range: 2-6Course Description: This recorder class is designed to be an introduction to music using the simplest instrument to learn on, the recorder. We will have fun learning basic music reading skills, including: note names, note values, rest values, rhythms, counting, fingerings, and we'll put it all together and learn several songs.
Course Expectations: Students will be expected to pay attention in class, participate in activities and bring the books and recorder to class.
Workload: We will learn music notations, fingerings and such and will require at least 20 minutes of practice each day at home.
Instructor Background: I am married to Bruce, and we have two children, Arianna (7) and Makenna (5). We are in our 4th year of homeschooling. I have a master's degree in Social Work and a post graduate certification in Infant Mental Health. My family and my husband's family are very musical and my love for music was encouraged by my dad who was a choral director at church and as a high school teacher. I played the clarinet for five years and am brushing up on my recorder skills. I'm happy to introduce music to your children.
Teacher Provides: I will place a group order for each student to receive a recorder and lesson book after registration. We all need to have the same recorder because they are all slightly different sounding. Having the same recorder will allow us to make beautiful music together!!!
Students Provide: Pencils
Prerequisites: Only the ability to resist blowing your instrument when instructed not to.
