Course Description:
*Find out what career would best suit your homeschooled student by exploring their God given gifts and talents! Job and personality tests also help align students with good potential career matches to consider. Within our class book, there are lists of jobs that offer suggestions on what courses to take in middle/high school, what extracurricular activities to consider and ideas will be discussed on where the student may want to go and shadow to get a practical look at their career choices. Your student will come away from this class with a better understanding of who they are, what their talents and gifts may be and what direction God may want them to take in their lives/studies and careers using these gifts.
*The second part of this class will help your student navigate high school equipping them with knowledge needed on state graduation requirements, high school and college testing, choices for courses to take in each subject area, which extracurricular activities to consider including ideas for volunteering and internships/ mentoring, how to keep track of all the work they have done ( simple record keeping for students) as well as creating a "road map" to follow for the high school years they have left to finish.
*Material fee includes the course book (which will be ordered for them) as well as some minor class supplies. Siblings may share or use their own consumable workbook/reference book
*This class is open to mature 8th graders as well who are prepared to consider all of these aspects of their personal journey. Parental involvement IS A MUST in helping your student make decisions that are best not only for their individual path but also what fits best in your own family beliefs.
Homework may include some reading, taking evaluations, praying for God's guidance, putting together a MS and or HS course plan, investigating different career options and creating a brainstorming poster of their top career ideas.
Expectations: This class is for students serious about spending some time investigating possibilities for their future careers/courses. You are the best judge on whether you think your student is ready (is interested) to explore these things or not (maturity wise).
