Grade Range: 6-9This course will explore the development of a piece of writing from the initial ideas to a completed, polished product. Students will explore a variety of paragraph styles and, as time allows, write book reviews, movie reviews, stories, essays, and research reports. Class time will be devoted to journal prompts, editing practice, modeling, lecture, peer editing, oral presentations of writing, pre-writing and occasional games.
Course Expectations: Students will be required to write rough drafts, revise rough drafts, and write final drafts at home on a weekly basis according to specific rubrics. Students will be required to keep a notebook of their final products.

Students Provide: binder, dividers, lined paper, pencils, pens, access to Word programs highly recommended
Prerequisites: Composition Kaleidoscope Semester 1 or teacher approval
Workload: Light to moderate
