Social dancing is a great way to have some good, clean fun! This class for middle school students will cover the basics of a modern form of swing dancing. We need both girls and guys in this class! Guys will learn how to lead the basic steps, girls' turns and guys' turns. Girls will learn how to provide a good response to the guy's lead, and how to execute turns, too!
We will also learn several line dances in this class.
Where can you use these moves once you’ve learned them? There is a swing dance club that meets outdoors in Farmington Hills in the summer, which would be a great place to practice your moves. There are also many dances put on by The Dance Project throughout the year. There are many places to dance once you know how, so join the fun!
Student Provides: suede bottomed dance shoes are recommended, but not required. Shoes must not leave marks on the gym floor.
Course Expectations:
Students should have an ability to move to music and a willingness to pay close attention to, and remember, dance moves. Even if you think you can’t dance, you CAN be taught if you have an open mind and are willing to learn.
Prerequisites: None, this is an entry level class.
