Based on John C. Maxwells book Sometimes You WinSometimes You Learn for Teens : How to Turn a Loss into a Win, this course will combine Christian principles with real-life stories of well-known, successful individuals and provide practical tools to help teens turn everyday setbacks into valuable experience and knowledge. In addition to book content, the instructor will incorporate brain science, psychology, Bible study and journaling to help teens understand how we develop and think, and also how to impact it.
Course Expectations: By the end of this course, students will possess a blueprint to become true
learners. They will obtain the tools necessary to win in the face of adversity by incorporating values such as humility, accepting reality and personal accountability. In addition to the book provided, we will identify and incorporate areas of Scripture related to the themes and lessons discussed throughout the course.
Prerequisites: N/A
Workload: Minimal. Students will be expected to read the provided book outside of class (approx. one chapter per week).
Teacher Provides: Book and journal
Student Provides: Students will need to be prepared to engage in reflective conversations and activities during class.
