Class Description/Expectations Ceramics is a semester long course that expands on the many different ways of working with clay as an artistic medium. This course is geared to the enthusiastic student who is motivated to undertake more challenging work in clay and further their understanding of ceramics as a means of artistic expression. Students will further explore coil building as well as soft and leather hard slab construction. Students will also use ceramics as a sculptural material in creating a portrait sculpture. Through this course students develop their own personal and artistic ways of working.
Teacher supplies: Clay, clay slips, glazes, paint brushes and kiln firing. *Ceramics tool kit. Instructor will be responsible for transporting projects while in progress.
Student provides: Creativity. All supplies are included.
Workload: Projects will be started in class and may require work at home. Some outside research will be required. Students are required to do preparation for classes by watching videos and reading information occasionally sent in emails by the instructor.
