Native Americans of North and South America
Have you ever wanted to know why some Indians lived in tepees or how they survived without the modern conveniences that the settlers had? We’ll answer these questions and many more in this class. We will study the people groups already in the Americas when Europeans arrived. We will learn about their homes. (They didn’t all live in tepees.) We’ll also learn all about their diet, family life, religious beliefs, and how they got along with other tribes and the settlers. We will learn all about their way of life in the past and present. We will try Indian foods, games, and crafts.
In first semester, we will focus on North America. Second semester we will focus on Central and South America, the Caribbean and Polynesian Islands. We will do most of our work orally and with crafts and projects. Please let me know if your child has food allergies since we will be trying several food items throughout this class.
Class Expectations: There will be very little homework in this class. There may be a few projects that we send home, but no weekly homework. I will send an email to the parents if we have homework.
Students Supplies: Pencil, crayons or colored pencils, glue, and scissors
Teacher will provide: All craft supplies, papers, and report book that we will be filling out each week.
