This course has an important goal: to ensure you have a complete and solid understanding of geometry which you will need in further studies. This course is designed to emphasize the study of the properties and applications of common geometric figures in two and three dimensions. It includes the study of transformations and right triangle trigonometry. Inductive and deductive thinking skills are used in problem solving situations, and applications to the real world are stressed. It also emphasizes writing proofs to solve (prove) properties of geometric figures.
Some of the course topics include: Deductive Reasoning and Proofs, Lines and Angles, Congruence, Inequalities, Parallel Lines, Quadrilaterals, Transformations, Area of Various Figures, Pythagorean Theorem, Similarity (Proportions and Dilations), Right Triangles and Sine/Cosine/Tangent, Circles, Concurrence Theorems, Regular Polygons, Geometric Solids, and Non-Euclidean Geometries.
Students in the course will be required to demonstrate their understanding of geometric concepts by completing in-class quizzes, mid-term, and a final exam.
This is a one-hour per week course with an optional hour of math study hall if your student is not a strong self-learner in math. Optional DVDs can be purchased at askdrcallahan.com.
Course Expectations: I expect students to complete their work each week to the best of their ability and to come to class with questions from the previous assignments. I will be available via email or phone for questions students have during the week.

Prerequisites: Algebra I.
This Geometry course is suggested to precede Algebra II, but not required.
Workload: Heavy. Students must commit to completing 1-2 hours of homework on 4-5 days per week to make sure we complete the text during our 28 weeks of class this year. Outside meetings may be required, as determined by class progress. Homework, quizzes and tests will be completed at home as well as in class. A traditional grade will be assigned.
** This ID is assigned to classes not on the current class schedule. The codes and descriptions are available then to revive to offer again. **
