Grade Range: 7-12SN **This is a new semester-only class with open enrollment.
This course is a leadership-based, student-led course designed to prepare the middle school and high school student in various aspects of leadership and community service.
Over the course of the semester students will participate and/or lead 4 to 5 community-based projects that will encourage and promote social justice, benevolence, compassion and leadership. Events such as food and clothing drives will be done at co-op, while specific outreach events will be performed in a nursing home venue or other local outreach center.
Students must be willing to commit 2-4 hours of time per week in the planning and preparation of these events so as to effectively facilitate and execute their planned activities/events.
This class will provide a unique opportunity for students to use their leadership and communication skills in order to best serve their community at large.
The material fee will help to cover any costs of purchases made for a nursing home outreach as well as for the costs of materials used in presentations.
