First Semester: Disney: Thinking about one of your favorite Disney cartoon characters? Of course there is Mickey and Minnie, Peter Pan and Tinker Bell, Aladdin, Bolt, Snow White, and about 101 more Dalmatians too!
If you join us in this class I would like to ask, which Disney character is your favorite? (poll pending following final class roster).Together we will illustrate some of the class favorites (one of mine is Piglet). The first 8-10 weeks we will together create various characters, while also thinking of a Heritage cartoon character (Mascot)- details to follow. The last 4 weeks we will work on our individual Heritage Mascots to display at Showcase. We will have a secret vote for all the Mascots created. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Art Prizes will be awarded and other prizes too!
Second Semester: Superheroes: Spider-Man, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, and the Avengers all share a common trait -- these hugely popular Marvel Comics superheroes were co-created by the legendary Stan Lee. Now, Lee shows illustrators everything they'll need to make their own mighty superheroes, just like his classic creations. Lee exposes his secret tools and techniques for bringing strong, inspiring heroes and heroines to life.
Together we will learn to draw many of the Marvel Superheroes. Each student will be required to submit a cartoon strip for the Heritage Newsletter or Showcase. Deadlines for cartoon submission will be included in the course outline.
