This Algebra I course covers topics typically covered in a first year Algebra course. Some of the concepts covered are: review of fundamental operations, functions and graphs, integers, rational numbers, one and two variable equations, solving simultaneous equations, exponents, polynomials, factoring, fractions, square roots, quadratic equations, real numbers, fractional equations, inequalities, and number sequences.
This is a one-hour per week course with an optional hour of math study hall if your student is not a strong self-learner in math. Optional DVDs can be purchased at askdrcallahan.com.
Course Expectations: I expect students to complete their work each week to the best of their ability and to come to class with questions from the previous assignments. I will be available via email or phone for questions students have during the week.

Workload: Heavy. Students must commit to completing 1-2 hours of homework on 4-5 days per week to make sure we complete the text during our 28 weeks of class this year. Outside meetings may be required, as determined by class progress. Homework, quizzes and tests will be completed at home as well as in class. A traditional grade will be assigned.
Pre-requisite: Pre-Algebra
It is suggested that this course precedes Geometry.
