Description:

This is a middle school class designed to prepare students for high school level math classes.  All skills needed will be presented in class.

Students are allowed to retake up to 2 quizzes and 2 tests per semester, if needed. 

Supplies Needed:
Textbook: provided by the teacher (cost included in the supply fee.)
3 Ring Binder (at least 1")
Pencils
Eraser
Ruler
Color Pencils (at least 3 different colors)
(optional) Scientific Calculator (TI-83 or TI-84)

*This calculator is the same one used in the high school classes and is approved for use on the SAT test.  We will be learning the basics of how to use this calculator for different concepts in order to prepare the students for high school.  It does cost quite a bit, but sometimes you can find them used on Ebay.  We will begin using them in Chapter 3. (I have a class set so it is optional for a student to have their own.)

Biography:

Deanna has taught middle school and high school math at RHSA for the last 3 years.  She attended Hardin Simmons University and graduated with a Bachelor of Behavioral Science degree in elementary education with a specialization in music.  She holds a current teaching certification in the state of Texas. 
Deanna has been married to her husband, Christian, for 24 years and has 4 kids, all of whom have been homeschooled.  The oldest 2 graduated from RHSA. Her oldest son is in the navy and her oldest daughter is attending Stephen F. Austin State University.  She has been homeschooling since 2005.  Before teaching at RHSA and homeschooling, she taught Elementary Music in Irving, TX 1997-1998, 4th grade in Dallas, TX from 1998-1999, Elementary Music in Garland, TX 2000-2001, Preschool in Richardson 2003-2007.  She has also taught private piano lessons since 1997 and is a member of the Garland Music Teachers Association, Texas Music Teachers Association, and the Music Teachers National Association.
