Description:

This art class will be a work in progress, evolving as we go. Students will begin the year experimenting with different materials and mediums, (think painting in acrylic and watercolor, learning early drawing skills, working with clay, making collages and mosaics, etc.) Then we will move to some consideration of what makes pleasing Art through discussion of composition, color, and perspective. Later we will learn about famous artists of the past, sampling their styles as we create our own "masterpieces".

Biography:

Schooling: Studied at UC Berkeley and UC Davis with degrees in English Lit and Psychology
Children: My 3 boys are ages 26, and twins who are 22. The twins are seniors at University of Michigan- one is planning for medical school, the other for graduate school. My oldest is finishing a PhD at Georgia Tech. All three boys were homeschooled.
Background: I've taught children a wide variety of things over the years! In addition to 12 years of homeschooling and tutoring in many subjects, there have been swimming lessons, summer creative writing camps, cooking classes, and nature and outdoor skills (as Webelo den leader) to name some of my favorites. I spent many years on the Board of the Richardson Symphony League, serving as Secretary, Ball Chair, and eventually President. Currently, I’m taking my 4th year of piano lessons. I'm also very involved remembering how to speak French, and I've recently started painting again!
