Description:

Howdy y’all! It’s time for Texas History! Let’s learn about our great state.  This class presents both a geographical and historical survey of the Lone Star State using pseudo newspapers written in present tense. An overall understanding and appreciation of Texas history will be gained through individual research and class discussions. The investigation and discovery of important dates, events, and people will give students a greater awareness of God's hand in the shaping of Texas. Students will prepare and present a variety of reports to the class including two biographies and several current event newspaper articles. Throughout the year students will be encouraged to gain a greater understanding of good citizenship. This course will culminate with a chili cook-off!  Yeehaw! Fall and spring registrations are welcome. Please note that this class is offered every other year and alternates with LANDS AND CULTURES taught by Mrs. Piehler.

Biography:

Mrs. Piehler earned a B.S. in Education with a specialization in English from Baylor University. Following graduation she taught in Richardson I.S.D. She began teaching at RHSA Co-op in 1996 and feels blessed to continue to do so. She has been happily married for over 34 years and adored homeschooling her own four children. Mrs. Piehler loves teaching, cherishes her students, and makes learning a delightful adventure. She would be honored to have your student join her this year!
