Age Range: 10-18The main emphasis for the Drawing Essentials class is to take the three most important drawing categories at the foundational level, [basic drawing, figure drawing and perspective drawing] explaining clearly and in depth the elements that are essential in depicting form and space on a two-dimensional surface. We will use fundamental (yet challenging) concepts and methods such as the process of sighting, scaling, line variation and brainstorming and the generation of ideas, working from both still lives and photographs as reference.
A supply list will be provided at the Parent/Student Orientation Meeting.
Mr. Weesner specializes in drawing, painting, and graphic design. He earned a B.F.A. in Advertising Art from the University of North Texas, and a Th.M. from Dallas Theological Seminary with an emphasis in Media Arts. He has worked in the advertising industry for 30+ years. He served as the Graphic Services Manager at The Cooper Institute for 18 years designing and illustrating best-selling books, annual reports, brochures, newsletters, magazine and newspaper advertisements, educational manuals, point-of-purchase displays, and logos. Clients included Campbells Soup, Reebok, Northern Telecom, Mary Kay Cosmetics, all branches of the U.S. Military, Xerox, and Kelloggs. He has exhibited in a number of juried art shows.
In addition to teaching four classes at RHSA, Mr. Weesner teaches Drawing I, Drawing II, Beginning Watercolor and intermediate Watercolor at Dallas College [Richland Campus] along with senior art classes at Twin Rivers and the Jewish Community Center as well as in-home private lessons.
This will be his twelfth year to teach art classes at RHSA.
Class meets on Tuesday from 12:30 PM to 1:25 PM & on Thursday from none to none & on Day 3 from none to none
