Description:

In elementary art, we will be introducing students to the exciting, diverse world of visual art. We will look to famous artists of the past to see examples of different mediums and styles. Each week, we will work on a project that either simulates or practices the style of the specific artist or period we are covering. For example, creating a picture out of dots if studying Georges Seurat and Pointillism or attempting to create artwork taped to the underside of a table if studying Michaelangelo to mimic his process of the Sistine Chapel. Artists to be used for project inspiration include:
Leonardo DaVinci,  Michealangelo,  Claude Monet,  August Renoir, Georges Seurat, Vincent Van Gogh, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock, Piet Mondrian, and Georgia O’Keefe.

Biography:

Kate grew up in the Dallas area and studied visual art throughout high school and college.  She has a passion for all the arts, but especially loves literature, poetry, classical music, and the visual arts.

She is married to Garrett and has homeschooled her two boys Max (8) and Charlie (6).  They were introduced to RHSA last year and have loved the gift of connecting to this new community of families.

Kate is looking forward to introducing all her students to the simple joy of a good book, listening to beautiful music and pursuing creative expression through the arts.  She loves talking with kids and is excited to have the privilege to work alongside so many wonderful families.

Kate and her family live in the Richardson area and are members at Mosaic Church of Richardson.
