Description:

Preschool:
Children will learn reading readiness skills in a variety of ways:
• story time
• music and rhythm
• phonics
• rhymes and pantomime

Children will learn basic math skills and enjoy crafts and projects to take home. They will practice kindness and sharing through games and simulations.

Kindergarten:
The student will learn skills that prepare for first grade:
1. consonant and vowel sounds (short and long)
2. counting and numbers
3. reading words and short sentences
4. writing letters and words
5. recognizing music notes and making rhythms with bells
6. making things with their hands
7. listening to Bible stories, learning Bible verses, and singing songs
8. sharing, working together, and enjoying friendships

Biography:

Jan studied Christian Education of children and youth in Bible college.

She worked on a team that created Alphabet Harbor, a reading/phonics curriculum, writing the daily lesson plans for preschool, kindergarten, and first grade students.

Jan home-schooled for over thirty years (her own six children and children for whom she provided day care). She prepared them well for college and graduate studies.

Jan and Don's adult children work in the arts, music, sales and ministry.
