NEW CLASS! This ensemble is open to any student with any level of instrumental experience. This class will be taught from a beginner method book to improve the student's musicality, no matter the musical level. Students with previous instrumental experiences are welcome!
While instruments will be required for this class, students do not need an instrument on the first day of class We will try instruments during that first class.
If students have previous experience with wind instruments (flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba, or percussion) they are welcome to bring their instrument on the first day of class.
We will learn music theory along with instrumental techniques, however, the primary focus of this ensemble is to expose students to music that offers new and exciting challenges. Rhythms and scales, as well as different musical styles will be the backbone of those challenges. Students will meet Tuesday at 3:30 to go over new concepts and to practice learned concepts as a group. Performances to be determined.
Supply list will be available at meet the teacher.
I have lived in Richardson for the last 25 years. My eldest two daughters graduated from Berkner and were both involved in the Mighty Ram Band. My husband George and I got married in 2011 and we have two daughters, Penny and Annie. Penny has been in RHSA for a year, and our Annie will start in the pre-k program this year.
I have been teaching Music Appreciation since 2013 with TVAH through K12, which is an online public high school. Before that I taught Band at All Saints Catholic School and Sam Houston Middle School in Garland. I received my associates degree in music education from Richland College in 2006. In 2008 I graduated from TCU with my bachelors degree in general music. I finally achieved my masters in music from WTAMU in 2021.
Class meets on Tuesday from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM & on Thursday from none to none
