Sherlock Holmes Mystery Science class will explore the clues along with the infamous detective, Sherlock Holmes. We will read stories and watch movies by author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and study how Holmes solved mysteries as well as modern day forensic techniques: deductive reasoning, fingerprinting, DNA, hair fiber analysis, handwriting analysis, ballistics, footprints, and blood typing. Doyle, master storyteller, has delighted readers for 130 years through his fictional character, Detective Sherlock Holmes. Today, Sherlock Holmes continues to fascinate world-wide audiences. In 2012, Guinness World Records awarded Holmes the most portrayed literary human character of all time, appearing 254 times in film and TV.The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes is classic Victorian literature full of suspense and excitement.
No homework requirement, just bring your keen observation and listening skills along with your intuition. Together we will use the clues to deduct a mystery or two!
(Sherlock Holmes stories/movies will be chosen that contain appropriate content for pre-teen and teens. Murder mysteries are part of some stories, but the focus will be on deduction to solve the case- no gore.
