Class Description:
Homeschool Programming has developed a Website Design program. There are no prerequisites. We will plan on completing one course in two semesters. Here is the description as written on their website.
KidCoder: Beginning Web Design is the first semester course in the KidCoder Web series. -- students will learn to create their own web pages using HTML. Hands-on fun for all students, young or old! http://www.homeschoolprogramming.com/kidcoder/kidcoder_beginning_web.php
This class is open to grades 5th and up. This is a semester class that will be covered over two semesters to lighten the homework load.
Each Week:
During class, we will start off by answering any questions about the homework from the previous week. I may ask those who have completed their coding to help any who were stuck and unable to get their lessons finished. We will watch a video of the next weeks lessons and I will answer questions.
During the week at home, this course will require the student to read 2-3 lessons per week along with the work with Me sections and any necessary coding/tests. The lessons should take about be 20-30 minutes (will vary, slightly).
Note:
Because these lessons will build on one another, staying up with homework is necessary and will require 1.5-2 hrs a week of reading and doing assignments. A child must be either an independent learner, or parents must make sure the student keeps up with weekly reading assignments and homework, in order to participate in this class. An inability to follow the syllabus and do the homework at home on a regular basis or due to illness and vacations, will slow down the pace of the class and is unfair to those who are working hard to keep up. Please consider this when placing your child in this class.
Workload:
Moderate. There will be 2-3 lessons each week read and complete at home.
** This ID is assigned to classes not on the current class schedule. The codes and descriptions are available then to revive to offer again. **
