Students will learn the basics of dancing and listening to the music, counting to the music, following the beat, moving in different ways. We will explore different kinds of music and learn timing and coordination as well as balance and grace. They will also learn the basics of stretching and warming up their muscles. Class will begin with barre warm-up, stretching, center floor work, technique, and basic combinations. We will end class with "Freeze dance" to work on listening and practice movements learned in class and to enhance creative movement and body awareness.
Course Expectations: Students will learn 1st - 5th positions with arms. They will learn a choreographed barre routine that they can take home and practice everyday outside of class. They will be tested on their positions, technique and barre routine. The class will choose if they wish to do a ballet dance or their barre routine as the showcase.
Teacher Provides: Dance knowledge and technique, choreography, music and a brief syllabus for the student for practice at home.
Student Provides: A BLACK leotard with tights(PINK) or BLACK dance shorts (absolutely no baggy clothing, the teacher cannot easily see mistakes and correct them with long or short skirts and neither through baggy clothing), ballet shoes(PINK) and HAIR MUST BE PULLED OFF THE FACE and UP.
