Parents, who are unsure if their child is capable of the work, please contact the teacher. Lessons will include: stages of screenwriting, generating and arranging ideas, building narrative, characterization, and marketing a screenplay. The goal of the class will be to complete a real script during this full year course. This will include mini reading and writing activities to be completed at home and in class. Students will be asked to present some assignments orally to the rest of the class.
Students must be proficient writers at a high school level and need to devote a minimum of 2 hours a week on developing their craft. Lessons will be taken from an online class through Industry Scripts among other sources. (I enjoy using a variety of teaching methods, so students should be prepared to have lots of fun.)
Course Expectations: Students are expected to participate in class activities and discussions and to complete homework. Assignments will be graded with emphasis on creativity and following the rubric.
