Grade Range: 5-7Course Description: We will be learning about what causes clouds, winds, and severe weather of all kinds. Some of the things we will learn about are hurricanes, tornadoes, tsunamis, and blizzards. We will learn how meteorologists predict weather too. Well do lots of hands-on experiments in this class.
Course Expectations: Students will be reading at home, participating in hands on experiments, writing lab reports and/or worksheets, and completing quizzes, a midterm and final.
Teacher Provides: All materials for experiments, worksheets, and quizzes
Students Provide: There will be a book for this class which will be announced as soon as it has been selected.
Prerequisites: None
Workload: Students need to be reading and writing well to participate in this class. Each student will need to read a short chapter from the student book and complete a worksheet or short quiz most weeks. Quizzes are open book. We will have quizzes, a midterm test, and a final test. I will grade the class. 50% of the grade will be participation. Quizzes will be 25% and Midterm and Final together will be 25%. Midterm and final are in class and closed book, but we will review for the midterm and final tests quite a bit. The grades are simply an incentive to complete the work.
