Material fee for sword (one-time): $38 (if needed)
I will be teaching a unique style of Samurai Sword that combines Japanese Kendo and Korean Kumdo. Students will be instructed in the use of bamboo swords and they will learn basic movements, strikes, and stances. The students will learn a few basic katas (patterns of movement and strikes). The class may progress to learn some basic sword sparring techniques in a partner situation depending on the maturity and progress of the class as a whole.
Expectations: It is my expectation that students will come to class on time with good attitudes with a willingness to participate in class activities, that they will be ready to learn, be respectful, and excited to push themselves to a higher level self-discipline while increasing their self-confidence.
Prerequisite: No previous martial arts experience is required. New students are welcome anytime.
The teacher provides: Each student will need a chukdo (bamboo sword to use) if you do not already have one. The cost of the sword is $38, this is not included in the class fee.
Student Provides: Comfortable clothing and a willingness to listen to and abide by safety rules and teacher instructions.
Workload: Light to Moderate (based on the individual’s ability)
