Physical Science Lecture is a companion class with Physical Science Lab. Students are expected to register for both hours. *
Corequisite Algebra 1.
Apologia Exploring Creation with Physical Science
This full-year, two-hour Apologia Physical Science course is a full credit HS science class composed of a one hour lecture component for in depth discussion of concepts and a one hour lab component for concept applications and experiments with lab report writing.
The 1st semester covers Earth Science (the atmosphere, the hydrosphere, weather, the structure of the earth, environmentalism, etc).
The 2nd semester is an introduction to Physics (motion, Newton's Laws, forces, waves, light, astrophysics, etc).
Course Expectations: Each week students will participate in a class lecture reviewing concepts read and their applications, Weekly lab experiments will be performed from the book and outside sources. Students will become adept at writing a good lab report. The 2nd semester has a strong focus on mathematical reasoning and computation skills. Each student will be held accountable for regular participation and completion of weekly assignments.

* Supplies: calculator, 3-ring binder, notebook paper, pencils, pens, highlighters
PLEASE NOTE: Because of the differences between the first and second editions, students in a group setting cannot use both. They must all have the 2nd edition.
Prerequisites: One year of Algebra, or taken concurrently.
Workload: Moderate to heavy. Students will be given regular reading, written questions, papers, two projects, lab report assignments to be completed on a daily and/or weekly basis. Tests will be given upon completion of each unit (15). Two comprehensive midterms will be given in class.
Students will be graded based on completion of homework, class participation, tests, lab reports and midterm and final exams.
